Khalid has made his solo return with “Softest Touch,” his first release of the year. The track was co-written by Khalid, and co-produced by Vaughn Oliver, Nico Stadi, and Blake Straus. The lively and radio-friendly track is destined to become a summer anthem, with a catchy hook that is sure to make it a beach or party playlist favorite.
“Softest Touch” will be featured on Khalid’s long-awaited third album, which was initially set to drop in 2021 and then later in 2022. The album’s title, Everything is Changing, may or may not remain the same. The upcoming album will not include any of its previous singles, such as “New Normal,” “Present,” or “Last Call.”
Everything is Changing will be Khalid’s first full-length project since his 2019 album, Free Spirit. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, with the hit single “Talk,” topping several Billboard charts, including Pop Airplay, R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Hot R&B Songs, Adult R&B Airplay, R&B Streaming Songs, Rhythmic Airplay, and R&B Digital Song Sales.
In late 2021, Khalid released Scenic Drive (The Tape), an R&B-inspired project that featured collaborations with Alicia Keys, Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, Majid Jordan, and others. Khalid has since continued to stay busy, collaborating with Marshmello, Joe Jonas, Dove Cameron, and more.
Khalid is preparing for his first-ever stadium tour, opening for Ed Sheeran’s + – = ÷ x Tour on select dates starting on May 6 in Arlington, Texas. Tickets are available on Khalid’s official website.
